The one and only Catalina.

Concertul e saptamana viitoare la biserica St. Joseph, in Monot,la 8.30. Pe violista noastra o cheama Catalina Rupa si canta in Liban de 10 ani.

In program vinerea viitoare : Hoffmeister, Concerto for viola and Orchestra, op.1

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Catalina began playing violin at the age of 7, then, after 6 years viola. Among her professors we mention Angela Mihalache, Alexandru Afrasinei, Stefan Gheorghiu, Valeriu Pitulac.

She graduated the University of music with Highest Award as artist instrumentalist and teacher.

During her studies she was awarded with first prize to the most important national competition of the genre(starting 1987,1989, then 1991 – 1994)

The chamber music concerts and competitions, occupied an important role to her musical education and experience, as well as the leading role she had in the several orchestras she was playing in. (Salzburg, 1992,1993 ;Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in April 1997- conductor Ivan Fisher; Lyceum Strings 1991-1999 – conductor Petru Andriesei; Philharmonic Orchestra, Bucharest, “Orfeu” chamber Orchestra etc).

As for the masterclasses she participated, it worth to mention Kim Kashkashian in july 2009, Gerhard Hamman – 1995, Wolfgang Laufer -1990

She is a member of the Lebanese National Symphonic Orchestra since January 2000.
